Would you like to experience a cultural exchange this summer?

Host families are still needed for French students coming to Saskatchewan

Debbie Ackerman is the Saskatchewan homestay coordinator for Nacel Canada and is looking to place French high school students in Canadian homes for a four-week period this summer.

“They come here to experience Canadian culture, better their English, and just have a Canadian family experience,” explained Ackerman.

The students are from areas all over France, ranging in age from 14-17, and are monitored every week. “I’m available 24/7 if there’s any questions, problems, anything, and there’s also a stipend given to the family.”

In total, 40 French students are expected to be in the province this summer through the program. “I’m still needing four homes in July, and about 10 in August,” said Ackerman.

Groups are coming June 30 through July 7, and July 28 through August 24. “Even if people can do part of it, that’s totally fine.”

Students need to be provided with a bed, and three meals a day or access to three meals a day. The students will have money for any events or activities that the family would take them to.
