SaskPower’s Great Plains Power Station has crossed another milestone over the winter construction season.

The project, which began construction in March of 2021, has now reached 95 per cent completion.

SaskPower announced that flushing of the oil systems for the gas and steam turbines and chemical cleaning of the heat recovery steam generator is now finished.

Work will continue with insulating and connecting temporary piping in preparation for steam blows in the coming months.

The station, located southeast of Moose Jaw in the Agri-Food Industrial Park, will generate 377-megawatts. Enough power for approximately 377,000 homes in Saskatchewan.
