Jayden Halbgewachs in action with the Regina Pat Canadians.Team West dropped to 0-2 at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge on Tuesday afternoon in Nova Scotia.

Warriors prospect Jayden Halbgewachs scored for Team West in the first period, but they trailed 3-1 after the opening frame before eventually losing 5-2 to the Czech Republic.

Halbgewachs' first of the tournament cut into the Czechs' 2-0 lead midway through the first period, but David Kase scored late in the first and early in the second to make it 4-1 after two.

Filip Chlapik added to the Czech Republic's lead midway through the third period and Keegan Kolesar finished off the scoring for Canada just a 1:12 later.

Tyson Verhelst made 13 saves in the loss for Team West.

They'll try to bounce back on Wednesday when they face off with Sweden at 12:00pm.  Warriors rookie goalie Zach Sawchenko and Team Pacific will be back on the ice on Wednesday night against the Czechs at 5:00pm.
