A story we all know and love will be brought to life by the Harmony Arts Program on the Mae Wilson Theatre stage.

The Little Mermaid Jr. features performers aged 6-13 who will grace the stage with full costume and set designs, bringing the characters and songs to life.

This is Harmony Art's second show, following their performance of Aladdin Jr. in May of 2021. Artistic Director, Jan Nelson, says this show has been in the works for several months.

"The students started working on it in November," says Nelson. "My assistant and I have been working on it since July of 2021, we started with breaking down the script and making production plans."

Nelson says these students are at a beautiful age to experience theatre. "They still have the innocent confidence of a child, and they need to be able to express themselves," Nelson goes on to say that performing arts allows the skill of public speaking to grow in these young performers.

As far as the production is concerned, Nelson says it is going to be an amazing show. "There's going to be some costumes that glow in the dark, a deep-sea backdrop, and a cauldron that one of our parents created."

The show is set to hit the stage for its opening night on Friday, March 11 at 7:00 pm. There is a sold-out matinee performance for school audiences on Friday and a matinee for the general public on Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 pm in which tickets are still available. The final performance will take place Saturday night at 7:00 pm. Click here to purchase tickets for one of the upcoming shows.
