There were 2,032 positive COVID-19 cases detected in the province in June.

  • 1641 (80.8%) were reported in those who were unvaccinated or had received their first dose of the vaccine less than three weeks earlier.
  • 355 (17.5%) were in those who had received only one dose of the vaccine, and,
  • 36 (1.8%) were in those who had received two doses of the vaccine. Of those 14 had comorbid conditions. 
  • and 36.8 percent of those were aged 19 years or younger.

102 residents were hospitalized due to COVID-19 in June. 

  • 66 of those were unvaccinated
  • 31 had their first dose of a vaccine with 20 of those individuals having comorbid conditions, and,
  • 5 had both doses of the vaccine. Most had comorbid conditions or were over the age of 70.

21 people were admitted to the ICU in June due to COVID-19.

  • 17 of those were unvaccinated residents
  • 4 of them had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and
  • No individuals who had both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were admitted into the ICU.

Among the cases reported in June, 15 individuals died.

  • 6 had not been vaccinated, 
  • 9 were vaccinated with one dose, and
  • None of the deaths reported were in residents who had received both doses.

The information was delivered during the province's final regularly scheduled COVID-19 press conference, and all public health orders were removed Sunday.
