Leslie William “Les” Jeanes

March 29, 1944 – June 15, 2024

After a brief illness, Les Jeanes passed away on June 15, 2024, at the age of 80. Les was born in England in 1944 to a Canadian father, Leslie, and an English mother, Joan. After WWII, the family relocated to Canada, and settled near relatives in Leross, Saskatchewan. Les will be dearly missed by his three children, Stephanie Jeanes, Cory (Wendy) Jeanes, Michele (Bruce) Gelman and his six grandchildren. Les had a long career with the Ministry of Highways, starting in 1963. After his retirement in 2000, he started a consulting firm and continued to work with Highways off and on until shortly before his passing. He will be remembered fondly by his friends and colleagues there. Les was quite the handyman and could often be found building, repairing, or tinkering with anything from an engine to a cabin. He was also known for his great cooking and love of music. Over the years, Les spent a lot of time at Buffalo Pound Lake. He enjoyed it so much he ultimately made his lake property his year-round home. In 2021, Les moved to Moose Jaw to be with his daughter Stephanie and granddaughter Elena. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at W.J Jones and Son in September. In living memory of Leslie, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Ltd.
