City Council passes bylaw amendment to restrict the placement of signs during an election after several complaints last year.

Whenever the next election is called, candidates will have to be a little more careful about where they set up posters around Moose Jaw.

Several local citizens complained to City Hall during the last election about where the signage was being set up.

Associate Returning Officer Angela Currie explains.

"The concerns expressed from quite a lot of people was that it was distracting at traffic lights and they felt it caused risks to safety because they felt people were distracted by the signage."

Council has passed a bylaw amendment that prevents signs from being posted on traffic lights. Currie doesn't see the restriction being a problem since candidates can still advertise on private property and other city land.
