Moose Jaw Community Players has added 30 new members following an open house held this past weekend. About 50 people attended the event held at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre on Saturday night.

Member Debbie Burgher says several people left the group during the pandemic and they were looking to replenish their numbers. This was their first time hosting an open house.

"I'm so excited that we've let Moose Jaw know that we're here," she remarked. "We've been here for years and years and people just didn't know about us. You see that there's a play but you don't know that you can be part of that. Hopefully that's going to change moving forward."

Burgher notes they are looking to fill several different positions in addition to acting/directing including stage and production management, props and set design, and lights and sound.

A couple of plays are being discussed for the spring. One of the options is a production about the history of Moose Jaw which was written by Burgher and fellow member Joan Stumborg. The late Tara Gish also contributed to the effort.
