Four local basketball players had the opportunity to play one more high school game this past weekend as they hit the hardwood for the 2019 Basketball Saskatchewan Senior All-Star Classic in Regina.

Peacock's Piper Ingalls and Briercrest Christian Academy's Brooklyn Martens lined up for Team South in an 89-69 loss to Team North in the girls game.

Central's Kyle Boughen and Riley Seaborn helped Team South to an 80-74 win over Team North in the boys game.

"It was a ton of fun, I got to play with some older teammates, some new teammates, so it was just a great experience overall," said Boughen, who scored 14 points in the game.

Boughen nailed a three-pointer, his second of the game, in the final seconds to help seal the win for Team South. Seaborn finished with four points in the win.

"It was super fun getting to play against the best players in Saskatchewan," said Seaborn.

"Kyle and I did a good job, we played hard and our team won, so that was nice."

Boughen and Seaborn were a part of the Cyclones' 4A provincial championship team this season. Both players are still undecided about their futures in the game but said that this was a good way to end their high school careers.

"This was the best ending that I could have asked for," said Boughen.

The game features the top graduating players from across the province going head-to-head in a showcase game.

Ingalls has already committed to the Brandon University Bobcats for next season. She said it was an honour to be selected to play in the game.

"It was a really cool experience, all the girls that were there were incredible, I got some buckets so that was good, but it was just really awesome," said Ingalls, who scored 10 points in the win.

Ingalls led the Moose Jaw High School Senior Girls Basketball League in scoring during the 2018-19 season, averaging 16.6 points while helping Peacock to their ninth straight league title and a provincial bronze medal.

She said choosing Brandon University was an easy choice and she’s looking forward to the next stage of her basketball career.

"As soon as I went there, I knew that I wanted to go there and play all five years," said Ingalls. "I'm really excited, it's going to be tough but it will be good."

Martens, who helped lead the Cougars to the 3A girls provincial title, finished with two points in the loss for Team North.

Maidstone's Alana Olson was the most valuable player in the girls game, while Regina Luther's Caleb Racette picked up the boys game MVP honour.
