Residents are being advised that paving on Main Street is expected to begin today.

Contractors will mill and pave the northbound lanes of Main Street North from High Street to Fairford Street. During this time, the northbound lanes will be closed, but the southbound lanes will remain open. Crews are wrapping up replacing water main lines on Main Street North from Manitoba Street to River Street.

The High Street and Fairford Street intersection will remain open to traffic, but motorists are asked to use caution around the construction zone as the contractor could be moving large equipment in and out of the intersections.

Detours will be in place. A temporary transfer point for transit will be on First Avenue Northwest in front of the Moose Jaw Events Centre. Bus stops at the regular transfer points at the intersection of Main Street and High Street will be out of service.

The work is expected to be completed by Saturday, weather permitting.

After the High Street to Fairford Street section is completed, this section will reopen, and crews will move one block south on Main Street to pave the northbound and southbound lanes between High Street and River Street.

The intersection at River Street will remain open during the second phase of construction, but motorists are once again asked to use caution as large equipment could be moved in and out of the intersection.

All businesses in the area will remain open during construction with access available via sidewalks.
