Marianna passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, in Moose Jaw on Saturday February 24, 2024.

She was predeceased by Mieczyslaw (Matt), her beloved husband of 39 years; her parents Czeslaw and Janina; uncle Wincenty; Aunt Jadwiga; brother Jurek; sister Elzbieta; brother in laws Zefir, and Witold, and nephew Pawel.

Marianna is survived by her sons Andrew and Kris (Missy); grandchildren Braeden; Kaedence; and Mikaela; brothers Witalis, Eugeniusz (Teresa), and Tadeusz (Malgorzata); sister-in-law Jolanta; brother-in-law Kazimierz (Jadwiga); numerous nieces and nephews in Poland and the USA along with Peter (Jennifer), Patrick, and Bozena (Rick) in Canada. She also had a special adoration for her Goddaughters Agnieszka (Damian) and Bogumila (Tomek), and nieces Ania (Bartlomiej) and Asia (Rafal) and nephews Artur, Andrzej, and Krzysiek (Agata).

Born in Lapy Poland in 1949, Marianna first came to Canada in 1969 to visit her aunt Jadwiga, returning to Poland six months later. She then met her husband Matt a short time later, eventually getting married on January 26, 1974. Marianna’s first son Andrew was born in 1975. But Canada held a special place in her heart. She returned to visit Moose Jaw in 1977 and to lay the groundwork to eventually move her entire family to Canada. Marianna once again returned to Poland and her second son Kris was born in 1978. She fulfilled her destiny and moved with her husband and two sons to Canada permanently in 1980.

Marianna secured various jobs but settled as a seamstress for Canaday’s Apparel not long after her arrival. She was awarded her Canadian Citizenship in 1984 and she continued to work for Canaday’s for over a decade until she transitioned to being a homemaker in the mid 1990’s. It was at home where Marianna shined. She loved to showcase her vegetable garden, baked goodies, and award worthy home cooking. You couldn’t find better tasting golabki or rosol this side of the ocean. Marianna also enjoyed watching TV, crossword puzzles, and most importantly, looking after and spending time with her "kochane” grandkids.

Although no longer here in body, Marianna will remain in spirit, watching over us, guiding us, and helping us in the kitchen as we try to replicate her amazing dishes. Marianna’s family would like to express their gratitude to the ICU staff at Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for the warm comforting care they provided Marianna in her last weeks.
