WENDEL

A Celebration of Vi’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home.

With heavy hearts, the family of Vionne Helen Wendel (née: Lindquist) aged 92 years of Moose Jaw and formerly of Central Butte, SK, announce her passing on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024.

Vi was born on September 15th, 1931, and began her life in Calderbank, SK.  In her younger years, she enjoyed curling and baseball.  Vi married Reiny Wendel on July 11th, 1953, and they resided on the Wendel homestead at Central Butte, SK.

Vi loved her life on the farm.  She grew a huge garden and enjoyed her beautiful flowerbeds that were filled with pink and purple petunias.  Vi and Reiny raised purebred Charolais cattle on their cattle ranch, Charline Farms.  Vi loved the calving season, and attending Agribition and other cattle shows.  The coffee pot was always on for cattle buyers and surprise visitors.  The highlight of each year was when they hauled semi-loads of cattle to greener pastures to Northern Saskatchewan, visiting with many friends they had met.

Ater Reiny passed away in 2006, Vi insisted on staying and operating the farm for another 4 years.  In 2010, she moved to Moose Jaw.  She missed the farm but made many new friends.

Her family was the light of her life!!  She enjoyed her visits with her grandchildren at the farm and was so excited with the arrival of her great-grandchildren.  Every visit at Providence Place made her day.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reiny in December 2006; and her six siblings along with their spouses, whom she loved dearly.  Vi is survived by her daughters, Denise (Gordon) and Char (Rick); grandchildren: Mike (Krista), Krista D., Amber (Josh), Dan (Tayler), and Candace; great-grandchildren: Sienna and Noah, Fenna and Rowan, Maren, and Henry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff at Providence Place in Moose Jaw for their loving care.

May Vi’s memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.  A life well lived!

In memory of Vi’s life, donations may be made to the Providence Place Recreation Department, 100 2nd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8.
