ANDERSON

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Melvyn William Anderson on Friday, February 23rd, 2024 at the age of 79 years, after a battle with cancer.

Melvyn was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and spent his early childhood growing up in North Battleford before moving to Moose Jaw, SK.  During his adolescent years, Mel spent time travelling and seeing many parts of the world before settling down in Montreal, QC where he met the love of his life and started a family.

Mel was always open minded to any challenge that presented and always had a unique sense of humor and was down to earth in any situation.  Throughout his life he worked many different jobs, he spent time in the construction industry, management in the industrial sector/retail sector, and in his later years worked as a grounds keeper.

Later in life Mel decided to move back to Moose Jaw to be closer to his family and for the amazing views the prairies offered, which he remembered from growing up.  Mel enjoyed the simple things in life like family, his pets, and always watching nature.  His grandchildren brought him the most joy.  He enjoyed visiting them and watching them grow, and when not doing that, he was always on top of the current trends or issues happening, and always had an opinion.

He was predeceased by his parents, William C. Anderson and Margaret Kidd; and brother, John Anderson.  Mel is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Chris and Jennifer (Justin); grandchildren, Jacob and Juliana; and nephew, Bill (Rhaea Lynne and children: Thomas, Liam, Claire).

We would like to thank the amazing staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic for all their kindness and support and would also like to thank the staff at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital for their support during the difficult time.

A Private Family Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations in Mel’s name may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 200-4545 Parliament Ave, Regina, SK S4W 0G3.

“Forever remembered dearly in our hearts”.

Love, Lorraine, Chris, Jennifer and families.

Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.  Gary McDowell, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
