The Moose Jaw Miller Express bounced back to pick up a 5-4 win in extra innings over the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Thursday night at Ross Wells Park to snap a three-game losing skid.

The win puts the Miller Express back at .500 with a record of 11-11, five games back of the Regina Red Sox for first place in the East Division.

Down 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning, Nate Mensik hit a double to score Thomas Soto to tie up the game.

Medicine Hat would retake the lead in the top of the third inning 2-1, but Marcerio Allen tied up the game on a wild pitch in the bottom half of the inning.

The Mavericks would once again to a one-run lead in the top of the eighth. However, the Miller Express rebounded to take the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Mensik scored off a Wyatt Tweet walk and Austin Gurney gave Moose Jaw a 4-3 lead after Joe Osborn was hit by a pitch.

In the top of the ninth, Medicine Hat's Micah Dvorak drove in Brady Bean to face an extra inning. Moose Jaw then scored the walk-off run in the bottom of the 10th.

Aaron Knuutila got the start on the mound for the Miller Express. He pitched four innings and allowed two hits, two runs and stuck out four. Takao Clarkson picked up the win in relief.

Moose Jaw wraps up its four-game homestand with games against the Sylvan Lake Gulls on Friday and Saturday at Ross Wells Park. First pitch for both games is 7 p.m. at Ross Wells Park. The Miller Express round out the weekend in Regina on Sunday afternoon to take on the first-place Red Sox.
