Moose Jaw powerlifter Rhaea Stinn could be adding more to her already impressive resume as an athlete.

Stinn was recently named a nominee for the World Games Athlete of the Year award for powerlifting.

“It’s an online voting competition. There is 25 sports in total that have nominated an athlete for this competition and I was powerlifting’s pick,” Stinn said.

Preliminary voting runs until Jan. 20, with the top-10 athletes with the most votes moving on to the final round until Jan. 30.

“It’s a really long voting period so every vote truly does count,” she said.

The World Games are an organization comprised of sports that aren’t in the Olympics, but the International Olympic Committee recognizes and monitors as potential Olympic sports.

The 2019 was a standout year for Stinn.

In June, she competed in the Bench World Championships in Tokyo and pick up the win, setting a world record with the victory.

Stinn would win her first ever IPF World Open Championship title, setting world records in the 85 kg division bench press and overall total.

Voting can be found here. Two selections must be made with the first selection receiving two votes and the second selection receiving one vote.
