It's called the "Speed Alert Trailer" and it's equipped with an "InstaALERT Rapid Message Board". Now we have one in Moose Jaw!

It's a new tool for the local police service to increase driver awareness of the problem of excessive speed.

Moose Jaw Police Chief Terry Coleman explains the trailers are pretty high tec. "These Speed Trailers are an education tool and not an enforcement tool. They'll have a large display on them and they're radar operated that will show the speed of the approaching vehicle. We'll also have a message board on there that will give a safety message and/or advise the person that they are exceeding the speed limit."

The Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police and SGI purchased the Speed Alert Trailers for Moose Jaw, Regina, Weyburn, Estevan and Saskatoon.
