Break and enters, you read about them in the police report on DiscoverMooseJaw.com every day.  Whether it's vehicles or homes, we've had a lot of them lately.

Moose Jaw Police Constable Shawn Mohle insists this is a safe community, but says there are steps we can take to protect ourselves and prevent break and enters from happening.

"Advise your neighbours that you're going to be away, let someone know that you're heading out of town or whatever that might be," Mohle said.  "Make sure you turn on some lights and I'd turn on a radio inside the house as well so, if somebody did go into your house, they'd hear some noise and maybe turn and go the other way."

He suggests taking  pictures of your valuables and writing down their serial numbers.  That way, if you are the victim of a break and enter, police will have a better chance of recovering your property.
