On July 4, the Village of Riverhurst will come alive with an art show and sale featuring local and regional artists, followed by an evening of music under the prairie sky performed by well-known Saskatchewan musician Jeffery Straker.

The Riverhurst Art Show is free to everyone. It opens at 5 p.m. in the Community Hall and will feature works in pottery, sculpture, jewelry and more. Highlighted will be paintings by Riverhurst artists Edie Marshall, Don Rode and Rhae Ann Bromley.

Then, at 7 p.m., take in a street concert by folk/roots singer-songwriter and pianist Jeffery Straker. Part of his Prairie Skyscraper Concert Series, the music pays homage to these iconic symbols of the prairie. The concert will be held with the stunning backdrop of the village’s grain elevator and will include his new song “More than Two-By-Fours and Timber”. Tickets are $22 in advance (Eventbrite) or $25 at the door. Ages 12 and under are free. Be sure to bring your lawn chair. Cash bar and food (beef on a bun) will be available, with proceeds to support local heritage projects.
