Six conservative candidates are set to run this year in the Cypress Hills-Grasslands riding, and a ‘Meet the Candidates’ forum took place last night in Mortlach.

This year's candidates include Kyle Bennett from Shaunavon, Sean Checkley from Fox Valley, Megz Reynolds from Kyle, Norm Norgulen from Assiniboia, Jeremy Patzer from Swift Current, and Kelly Williamson from Pambrun.

All six introduced themselves at last night's meeting and proceeded to tell the audience a bit about themselves.

Norm Nordgulen gave his reasons for running.

"I just felt that there was a need, you know with David [Anderson] leaving. I think there is a vacuum and I just felt there was a need, and I know that I can fill it. I've got lots of experience."

Jeremy Patzer explained why he wanted to run.

"I want to make sure we have a country that our kids and people that are in our country right now can be proud of, and that people that want to come to Canada, they see Canada as a viable option, a viable place for businesses to come in and invest in so we can grow our country."

Kyle Bennett went into detail about his drive to run.

"I have the passion to make a difference. I've complained enough, so I want to get in and actually do something about it. I'm not one to just sit around and complain without any solutions. I want to get involved and learn and figure out what I can do to make the world a better place, make Canada a better place."

Kelly Williamson described why he has a passion to run.

"To be a voice, to make sure I'm was at the table when the decisions are being made because those decisions have an effect on you. I felt I could bring the difference to that stage."

Megz Reynolds detailed why she wanted to run.

"I chose to run because I have been actively involved in fighting different policies and realise that I not only have a voice, but I'm able to positively use it to influence change."

Sean Checkley broke down his reasons for running.

"I decided to run for a simple reason that we decided that if we were going to have a solution-based commodity market and somebody who represented that, we needed somebody with a diverse backround, and I have that backround."

The last day to obtain a membership for the Conservative Party of Canada in order to vote at the nominee meeting is Thursday.
