The Summer Games field on South Hill is still covered in snow.

With the start of the season only two weeks away and the soccer fields still covered in snow, the Moose Jaw Soccer Association is looking at their options on what to do if it doesn't melt in time.

“The season is scheduled to start the week of May 1st, unfortunately, just the way the weather and the snow is right now, we're not exactly sure if that's going to happen,” said John Shurniak with MJSA.  “We're kind of in a wait and see approach depending on when it melts and how it melts.”

The board has been in contact with the City of Moose Jaw on the conditions of the fields and when the earliest they can get on them is.

“We're in contact with them and they're sending us announcements when they know things,” said Shurniak.  “We'll try to keep everyone as informed as we are.”

Meetings have been held to decide a plan of action for if the season has to be pushed back, which Shurniak says is looking like the reality right now, “Our board has been meeting and it kind of depends on how late we start and how late we end up finishing, but if it gets moved back a week, chances are pretty good that we'll finish a week later.”
