The Colts took one more step to winning their eighth city title in a row with a 6-2 win over the Hustlers in Moose Jaw Senior Ladies Fastball playoff action.

The Colts now have a 2-0 series lead in their best of five city final with the Hustlers and can wrap up the title tomorrow.

Even with that commanding lead in the series, second baseman Kim Neithercut of the Colts has respect for the Hustlers.

“These guys have a really strong-hitting ballclub so anytime we can be up in a series, is way more more confident going into tonight,” said Neithercut. “(We have) a little bit of a cushion, maybe a little more relaxed and not so tense.”

She felt Hustlers pitcher Adrianna Phillips was mixing speeds a bit Tuesday, which prevented the Colts from knocking the ball around like their did in their 9-0 win Monday.

“We seemed to get a lot of kind of infieldy-kind of hits,” Neithercut said. “But we didn’t capitalize on our runners on base as much for sure (Monday) night. And that was a big difference for us... We hit the ball well (Monday) night and (Tuesday night) we had to work a little bit harder for the runs.”

Game three goes tonight at Caribou Heights. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
