There was two sets of games on the opening night of Moose Jaw high school junior boys volleyball action on Monday night.

At Riverview, the Riverview/Mortlach Royals went 4-1, while Craik was 3-2 and Central went 0-4 during the three-team round robin.

The opening match saw Craik knock off Central in two straight sets (26-24, 27-25). That was followed by Riverview/Mortlach winning in three sets over Craik (25-15, 21-25, 15-8).

The final match-up of the night had the Royals topping the Cyclones in two sets (25-23, 25-20).

Over at Vanier, the Vikings went 4-2, Peacock was 3-2 and Central Butte went 1-4.

Peacock topped Central Butte in two straight sets (25-22, 25-12) to open the night.

That was the only two-set match of the three-team round robin as Central Butte battled Vanier over three sets in the second game. Vanier won 2-1 (25-9, 24-26, 15-10).

The Vikings would prevail again against the Toilers in the final game of the night, edging them in three sets (25-22, 20-25, 15-13).

The senior volleyball league is on the court for four games on Tuesday night.

At Cornerstone, the Falcons host the Vanier Vikings and Spirits in boys and girls action at 6:20 and 8 p.m., while the Peacock Toilers head to Avonlea for a boys game and Caronport for a girls game, both start at 7 p.m.
