Do YOU support local, small business?  RBC has just released results of a small business poll showing 88% of Canadians will choose to support a local business when possible and 57% say they would pay more for a product or service offered by a local business.

The report quotes their Vice President of Small Business who says small businesses are "the driver of our local economies and when given a choice, Canadians want to support their small and local businesses."

The poll also finds 63% of us have thought about owning our own business with greater control and money being the top reasons.  88% say owning a business would allow them to have control of their future with 83% believing they'd make more money.

I believe these numbers are most encouraging.  Perhaps we'll see more and more local, small businesses opening in the future.

It's unfortunate we didn't think this way 30 years ago.  Maybe we could have saved some of our neighbourhood corner stores.
