The Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks are back in the thick of things in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League final.

The Mavericks skated to a 2-1 win over the Crushers in Yorkton on Sunday night to even their best-of-three series at 1-1.

Crystal Wale and Kaitlyn Gilroy scored in the win for Moose Jaw, while Brooke Archer made 18 saves.

The win allowed Moose Jaw to bounce back from falling 3-1 to Yorkton in Game 1 on home ice on Saturday.

They will play the deciding Game 3 coming up this Saturday night.

Bantam A Warriors Drop Provincial Final Opener

The Moose Jaw Bantam Warriors dropped game one of the S-H-A Bantam AA Tier 2 provincial final series 5-3 to the Saskatoon Black Aces on Sunday.

Mikkel Hrechka, Nicolas Lougheed and Carter Benallick scored in the third period for Moose Jaw as they attempted to come back from a 5-0 hole after 40.

The Warriors will now need to win Game 2 this Saturday in Saskatoon by at least two goals to stay alive in the two-game total point series.

Peewee A Warriors Roll in Playoff Opener

The first place Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors kicked off the Hockey Regina League playoffs with a dominating 9-1 win over the tenth place Regina Cougars on Saturday afternoon in the Queen City.

Captain Chase Jocelyn led the way for the Warriors with two goals and three points in the win, while Mitchell Parr finished with a goal and three points. Eric Woit had two goals as well.

Moose Jaw jumped all over the Cougars right out of the gates as Parr scored just 18 seconds into the game.

Just over a minute after Parr opened the scoring, the Warriors picked up two more goals with Woit and Braxton Mac Angus scoring only 46 seconds apart.

Jocelyn then added a pair of goals just before the midway point of the first period to make it 5-0 for the Warriors before the game was ten minutes old.

After the Cougars got on the board early in the second period, the Warriors picked up goals from Nathan Varjassy and Ashton Glova to make it 7-1.

Woit added his second of the game early in the third period and Austin Woodley finished off the scoring for Moose Jaw late in the final frame.

The win advances the Warriors to the next round of the league playoffs where they'll hit the ice on Monday against the sixth place Regina Blues. Puck drops at 7:45 p.m. at the Mahon Arena.
