Peacock's Leighton Bearchell.

The Peacock Boys Golf Team dominated the District Championships last weekend in Elbow with a 76 stroke win and they'll be hoping to carry that solid play over to Provincials, which start on Friday, at the Cooke Golf Course in Prince Albert.

"We have a pretty solid team this year," said Peacock's Leighton Bearchell, who was second in the individual tournament at Districts.  "I think we have a pretty good chance of medaling at Provincials this year."

The Peacock squad also features city champion Nathan Corrin, Bren Roberge and Avery Bender.

For Bearchell, this is his fourth, and final, trip to Provincials in the individual catergory and he's looking to improve on last year's third place finish.

Bearchell says he's played the Cooke Golf Course about six times and feels pretty comfortable going in, "It's challenging if you're not hitting it well off of the tee, but if you're hitting it in the fairway, you can definitely score on the course."

As it's his senior year, Bearchell says this tournament will be bittersweet for him, "It's exciting, but it's also sad.  It seems like the four years have gone by pretty fast.  It's kind of weird to say that it's my last golf tournament in high school."

The tournament goes on Friday and Saturday in Prince Albert.
