After getting passed over in the NHL Draft multiple times, Zach Sawchenko is finally getting his shot at professional hockey.

The Moose Jaw Warriors alum signed a two-year American Hockey League contract with the San Jose Barracuda, the affiliate of the NHL's San Jose Sharks.

Sawchenko has spent the past two seasons with the Alberta Golden Bears, posting a 45-9-0 record over 56 games. He led the Canada West Conference with a 1.46 goals against average and a 0.926 save percentage while also setting a new single-season record with five shutouts in 18 games this past season.

During his time with the Warriors, Sawchenko won two Eastern Conference Goaltender of the Year awards. He finished his WHL career with a 65-12-4 record in 177 games with a 3.11 GAA and a 0.908 save percentage.
