The City of Moose Jaw once again hosted the annual Public Works Conference this week, for the first time since 2008.

Thirteen members of the city's staff attended the conference at Mosaic Place, with two people being recognized during an awards ceremony on Wednesday.

Josh Mickleborough, City Engineer, explains:

"It was nice to have the convention in Moose Jaw and have a couple of our employees, including myself, recognized. Staci Debrescue won an award for contributing to the public work sector broadly, and I was fortunate enough to receive an award for management in the public sector."

Staci Dobrescu, local Public Works Supervisor, was given the Harry S. Swearingen Award which goes to those who have done outstanding work for the organization.

"I was surprised. Very surprised. I had no idea that my name had been put forward. It was a huge surprise to me, I'm very humbled by it. It's very nice to be noticed for that. That's not the reason I do what I do, I do it because I believe that we're what makes the world go round in public works. I really believe in networking and bringing public works employees all together."

The convention wrapped up at Mosaic Place Thursday.
