The stage of the Mae Wilson theatre will be enchanted with music and theatre magic from local youngsters performing Cinderella as a musical.

Local kids ranging from ages 11 to 18 have been preparing for over 6 weeks to put on 3 shows at the Mae Wilson Theatre.

The shows will take place on Friday, June 10th at 7 pm and Saturday, June 11th at 2 and 7 pm.

“So, if anyone has seen the 1997 Brandy and Whitney Houston telemusical, that is kind of what it’s based off of. So, it’s super fun with a modern twist a little bit on Cinderella,” says Jessika Kopp from Born To Be studios.

Born To Be studios has organized and is putting on the event as a kick-off for the expansion of the Born to Dance company.

Born to Dance started 10 years ago and its initial goal was to create an environment for kids where relationships came first. Now the studio has branched out into several different avenues to appeal to more kids.

“We are still a dance studio. Born to Dance that offers all styles of dance. We also now offer impact taekwondo so full taekwondo classes. We also offer our hands-on arts program, teaching students all about art. We have music arts so we’re going to be doing guitar, drum, and piano lessons as well as voice lessons. Then we have our triple threat theatre company which encapsulates all of the theatre arts,” says Kyleigh Coad from Born To Be studios.

A cast of 28 students from the triple threat theatre company are the ones that will be performing in Cinderella. A number of students will also be working behind the scenes to create theatre magic.

Tickets for the shows are still available at the Mae Wilson Theatre or you can purchase tickets online here.

Registration is also open for all of Born To Be’s programs through their website.
