Five students at Central Collegiate are challenging their peers to collect food for the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank throughout the month of May.

Brody Wilder, Paul Zambrano Longinote, Lilya Machuzhenko, Sadie Hatley-Rogers and Hannah Hunter put together the project as part of their Leadership 20 class.

Hatley-Rogers talked about how much food they are hoping to collect.

“We’re hoping to get around two to three boxes, at least. We will most likely get more, fingers crossed,” she said.

The Leadership 20 class broke up into four groups to support organizations throughout the city. Other organizations being helped out by the Leadership 20 class include the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council, Moose Jaw Victim Services/Moose Jaw Police Service, and Moose Jaw Transition House.

The students are collecting non-perishable food during fourth period. They are also having a competition within the school to see which class can donate the most food. Prizes will be given for first, second and third place.
