Students in Central Collegiate’s Leadership 20 class are raising funds to buy hygiene products for Moose Jaw Transition House.

As part of the class, students get to choose a charitable cause in the community to support throughout the month of May. Other groups are fundraising for the Moose Jaw Multicultural Council, the Moose Jaw Food Bank and Moose Jaw Victim Services/Moose Jaw Police Service.

Students Addison Simpson, Albiona Gashi and Sandra Bijelic decided to help with Moose Jaw Transition House.

“They’re welcome there, but they’re not always feeling at home. We’re just hoping that this can help them feel more at home, especially have name brand things and spa products and pamper products might help them feel a bit more at home,” explained Simpson.

The group is planning a donut sale for the school and are always welcoming monetary donations from the public. Simpson Seeds has also offered to make up to $500 in donations.

Simpson talked about some of the supplies they are looking to buy for the Transition House.

“We are looking to buy mostly full bottle sizes of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Whatever money we have left over from that we are going to buy feminine products and spa products. We’re not really putting together packages. We more just buying bulks and deliver,” she said.

Those interested in making a donation can drop off cheques or cash at the Central College office. Charitable receipts can be made out through the Prairie South School Division.
