It has been a long time coming, but the Deja Vu Disc Golf Course in Sunningdale Park is officially open.

The City of Moose Jaw and the Sunningdale VLA Community Association cut the ribbon on Moose Jaw’s newest disc golf course on Thursday. It becomes the second disc golf course in the city. The other is in Wakamow Valley.

The wheels for the disc golf course went into motion in April of 2023 when the Sunningdale VLA Community Association approached city council and received approval for the course.

After having to overcome a few hurdles, the disc golf course finally became a reality for the community association.

“On one hand, it feels like we blinked, and it’s happened. On the other hand, though, there’s been so much work that has gone into making this happen. It just feels really, really good that the course is officially open and people can play and have fun,” said Leslie Campbell with the Sunningdale VLA Community Association.

It also took a lot of community support and business support to get off the ground. Deja Vu Cafe got on board as the title sponsor and, anyone who aces the 17th hole can win a free meal from Deja Vu.

Meanwhile, the 16th hole is the feature hole sponsored by Tax Team Accounting Solutions. It includes landscaping by Cornell Design and Landscaping and an elevated basket.

Mayor Clive Tolley said it truly was a community effort to make this course happen.

“It’s a real good example of community partnership, businesses, the community association, City of Moose Jaw employees working together, so I want to congratulate all those parties. We’re working so effectively together and our City of Moose Jaw staff has worked very hard, but a lot of people have to make this become a reality,” Tolley said.

The professionally designed 18-hole course includes amateur and professional tee boxes and the baskets can be moved to redo hole locations. The course is free of charge for the public to use.
