Draw 12 from the Scotties Tournament is hearts is in the history books, and it almost went the way of Nunavut’s Lori Eddy.

It took a tenth end measurement for Chelsea Carey’s Canada rink to get a 6-5 win over the pesky Nunavut team.

“We’re doing well and hanging in with the big teams here,” Eddy said. “Chelsea made a great shot on her last one and we were close. If you can take the defending champion down to last rock, that’s a pretty good thing.”

Eddy tried a double take out, but it didn’t work out like she had thought and the Canada stone was closest to the button by a hair.

“I’d like to have a couple back, but I think we gave them all they could handle, and we’re really pleased with how we played that game,” Eddy said.

With her heart likely in her mouth, Carey watched as a measurement decided whether she’d go into tonight’s draw at 3-and-3 or 4-and-2.

“My last one ended up ok but she had a shot and then it comes to a measure,” Carey said. “We were fortunate for sure.”

Carey said they were originally going to play an angle raise on her last shot of that end but said it ran and ran, leaving Carey the draw attempt to the button.

Carey left impressed by how Nunavut played them.

“They played incredibly. We weren’t at our best, but they made a lot of shots. Even when we had them in trouble, Lori made a couple of really clutch cuts to save them,” Carey said.

“To make a good run here at a Scotties, you always need things to go your way.”
