Local resident calls in the police after he found four hand grenades, a dismantled missile, and other military items in a gift left to him by his uncle.

A potentially dangerous situation was calmly dealt with Thursday in Moose Jaw as local police officers received a very strange call to the north west area of the city.

A concerned citizen called police to deal with a parcel he had inherited from his uncle 13-14 years ago, but had apparently never opened.

When police arrived they realized they were dealing with 4 hand grenades, a dismantled missile, and other military equipment. Police immediately contact the CFB Dundurn Explosives Unit to attend. When they arrived they determined one of the hand grenades was live with the detonator still in tack.

The items were successful dealt with thanks to the conscientious citizen and no one was harmed.
