A large crowd came out to welcome CPKC’s Final Spike Anniversary Steam Tour on Sunday in Moose Jaw.

The main attraction was a steam engine built in 1930.

Known as “The Empress,” the 2816 steam locomotive was retired in 1960, and was used as an ambassador train until 2012.

The train will be making 11 stops across Canada, the United States and Mexico as part of the tour celebrating the first anniversary for the merger between Canadian Pacific and Kansas City railways.
