People First of Saskatchewan and the Deinstitutionalization Coalition of Saskatchewan are calling for the local facility to close saying it goes against human rights.

Two organizations are looking to have Moose Jaw's Valley View Centre shutdown saying keeping people in the facility is a blatant abuse of human rights.

A rally is being held in Regina Wednesday afternoon by The People First of Saskatchewan, a group of people who have been labeled with intellectual disabilities. The rally set for 12:30 on the steps of the Legislature.

Another rally has been planned for Thursday in Saskatoon as the Deinstitutionalization Coalition of Saskatchewan calls for Valley View to be shut down as well. The DCS says "closed environments are inherently abusive by their power structure, and just like residential schools and orphanages, someday society will look with disgust at the injustice of institutions like Valley View."
