The Moose Jaw Royal Canadian Legion Branch 59 is getting into the swing of things for the holiday season and is gearing up to host its 2nd annual Christmas Supper next month.

Branch president, Roy LaBuik says that last year’s event was such a smashing success that they decided to do it again this year. All the funds raised from their dinner will go towards finding the legion a new home.

“The original part was built in 1926 and then the addition was built in the late 50s or early 60s, but we have a crew of people out there trying to find a new home for the legion,” says LaBuik. “We’re talking with people and seeing what’s out there, but we need to raise some money first.”

The event is scheduled for Dec 10., and tickets are $20 for adults and children 14 years of age will be charged $15 a ticket and can be purchased in the legion lounge (268 High St W). Things get rolling at 5:30 p.m. with supper served at around 6:00 p.m.

People are in for a treat as they have a full evening planned of good food and even some prizes for people to leave with.

“My wife Shannon actually puts together the 12 baskets of Christmas that were going to raffle off. We’ll have some other prizes as well.”

Those that do attend will not leave hungry as the legion has tons of food for everyone.

“We’re going to start off with veggie trays, pasta and garden salads, and we’re going to do roast beef with vegetables, mashed potatoes and gravy, and bread pudding for dessert. Bring your appetite that night.”
