A big eighth inning by the Saskatoon Berries was the difference as they defeated the Moose Jaw Miller Express 11-8 on Wednesday night at Ross Wells Park.

With the split of the back-to-back home games for the Miller Express against Saskatoon, Moose Jaw moves to a record of 5-5.

Moose Jaw opened Wednesday night's game with a 4-1 lead after the first inning. Saskatoon battled back with one run in the second inning and two in the third to tie up the game.

Evan Deringer would score off of an error in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Miller Express a 5-4 lead.

Saskatoon replied with a run in the top of the fifth and took the lead with another run in the sixth inning.

Moose Jaw battled back to tie up the game in the bottom of the seventh when Bobby Pokorney scored off a Nate Mensik double.

The Berries managed three runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 9-6 lead over Moose Jaw. Both teams exchanged two runs in the ninth inning to make the final 11-8.

Mensik went three-for-four at the plate for the Miller Express with an RBI. Darren Hagan when two-for-four. On the mound, Julian Gonzalez took the loss.

The three-game series between the Saskatoon Berries and Moose Jaw Miller Express now shifts to Saskatoon on Thursday night.
