A strong performance from Moose Jaw native Taylor Elder and some good hitting wasn't enough for the Moose Jaw Miller Express Wednesday night as they fell to the Weyburn Beavers 6-4.

Elder went six innings, striking out six in the process but strong defence from the Beavers kept the Millers offence in check for most of the night.  Eric Nutzhorn had a good night for the Millers as well hitting a three run homer in the fifth to pull the Millers within one.

Millers coach Michael Hunt says that the team didn't play a bad game Weyburn just played better, "We had some timely hits with runners in scoring position and we just didn't get enough of them.  It really wasn't a question of us beating ourselves, Weyburn played a really solid game and we just didn't win."

Hunt adds that the team will be working hard for that win when the two teams meet again on Saturday, "Obviously it is kind of frustrating, three losses against Weyburn.  One of our goals is to not be under 500 to any team in this conference and especially in this league.  The fact that it's three in a row to Weyburn now does kind of dirty it a little bit but we have them again coming up on Saturday and we're looking forward to it.  Sean Buford's going to throw for us and he's going to throw a good game."

The Millers will get a chance for redemption against the Beavers on Saturday at Ross Wells Park.  First pitch is at 7pm.
