The Government of Saskatchewan announced the minimum wage in the province will be increasing to $11.81 per hour come October 1.

According to the Government of Saskatchewan, this is the 13th increase to minimum wage, totaling an increase of over 48% since 2007.

The increase is calculated using an indexation formula, which "gives equal weight to changes to the Consumer Price Index and Average Hourly Wage for Saskatchewan".

Saskatchewan currently has the lowest minimum wage in Canada. Once the increase is in effect, the province will have the second lowest minimum wage in the country, after only New Brunswick.

The government introduced an indexation formula in 2010. Increases are announced by June 30 and take effect on October 1 of each year.
