If you’ve ever wanted to embrace your thespian side, now is your chance.

The Moose Jaw Community Players is holding auditions for their April 2024 show, ‘Spirit Control’ on Sunday November 5th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Monday November 6th from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Mae Wilson Theatre Basement Rehearsal Hall.

The play, written by Beau Willimon and directed by Larry Rutherford, is a drama about an air traffic controller who has a traumatic experience talking someone through the process of landing a plane after the pilot dies.

“The consequences of that moment in his life are long-reaching and really affect everything he does for the rest of his life. It’s about how he successfully, or otherwise, has dealt with that,” said Crystal Milburn, Vice President of the Moose Jaw Community players.

The Players ask that you come with a 60 to 90 second monologue prepared to perform, and they’ll also provide a piece of the play’s script for you to read.

If you’re selected for the show, rehearsals will take place two evenings per week, potentially going to three days per week when the April show is closer.

The performance dates are April 11, 12, and 13.

“Folks should also know that our spring show, the one that we're producing in April, is the one that we'll be taking with us to Theater Fest this year if our application is accepted. So that means we'll travel this show to North Battleford at the end of April and present it there, along with other community theatre groups, who are bringing their shows,” said Milburn.

If you’re interested in theatre but don’t want to act, Milburn says they are also looking for volunteers to help with props, costumes, lighting, stage management, and production.
