According to Habitat for Humanity’s website, Moose Jaw’s chapter of the organization is considered “inactive.”

In a written statement of Discover Moose Jaw, Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan interim CEO Gary Gurtler said each chapter is run by its own steering committee and sub-committees that are led by a group of volunteers.

“The chapter develops a build plan, fundraises and ultimately has the project approved by Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan before construction begins,” Gurtler said in a statement.

The statement said that the Moose Jaw chapter is listed as inactive because there is no current board or build plan in place.

“This does not mean that Habitat for Humanity is closed to the idea of building in Moose Jaw in the future,” Gurtler said.

Habitat for Humanity Moose Jaw’s 10th build, a duplex at 1015 Ominica St. E., was completed in June of 2022.

Moose Jaw was a part of the Habitat for Humanity Regina chapter until February of 2021. The organization underwent restructuring with Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert chapters merging to become Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan.
