It was a windy Sunday, with wind gusts reaching 76 km/h in Moose Jaw. “Pretty gusty, but well below our warning criteria,” said Natalie Hasell, meteorologist with Environment Canada.

Strong winds were also reported in other places in the province on Sunday, and Moose Jaw was far from the top spot. Hazell said Nipawin reached 98 km/h, Estevan got to 87 km/h, Yorkton got to 83 km/h, and Hudson Bay was 80 km/h.

Most of the weekend precipitation fell in central and northern areas of the province according to Hasell. Moose Jaw’s weather station recorded 2.2mm on Saturday, and 0.5 mm was recorded on Sunday.

So far in June, 34.1 mm of precipitation has been recorded in Moose Jaw. “June usually sees 58.8 mm.”

Hasell said it looks like we are likely to reach or surpass the normal amount of precipitation for June.

Today will see an increase in cloudiness with a chance of showers continuing tonight and into tomorrow. “Slightly clearer conditions on Wednesday, but then the next impulse comes along, and Thursday night could be a showery, maybe thunderstorming time. Same for Friday evening.”

“The showers that start Friday night look like they could continue into Saturday,” added Hasell.
