They're not backing off.  In fact, they're pushing forward.

The Moose Jaw MultiPlex Builders and the local Chamber of Commerce have issued a call for support.

The two groups have sent a fax around the city calling for you....to attend Monday night's meeting of Moose Jaw city council to voice your opinion on the MultiPlex Project.

Builders Co-chair Ray Boughen says people need to communicate.

"We would like to see people there that have an opinion to express on how this project will be moved forward and hopefully we'll see some people in attendance," Boughen said.  "Anyone of the folks in the community who would like to step-up and share their thoughts with council, I'm sure that would be welcome."

At the last meeting of council, a motion was passed to locate the multiplex project at the current site of the Moose Jaw Civic Centre and that it only include a curling rink and hockey arena.  The MultiPlex Builders have made it clear they want to build downtown and they'd like to see an indoor soccer pitch along with the possibility of an indoor walking track and convention facilities.

Boughen says Moose Jaw business people want the new facility downtown.

"Well, there was a study done by a firm...that the Chamber employed and the results of that study indicated that the business sector favoured a downtown location for the multiplex," Boughen said.

"We would like council to slow down a little on the site selection and what it is that the multiplex should really be...like right now, we see the new facility, as defined by council, as two ice pads;  one for hockey and one for curling," Boughen said.

This Monday night's council meeting will be interesting, to say the least.  We'll be there to provide you with the latest.
