The provincial government has come up with $190,000 for new diagnostic imaging equipment to be installed in the Union Hospital.

A major boost for the Moose Jaw Union Hospital this week as 190 thousand dollars has been given to the 5 Hills Health Region for diagnostic equipment.

Health Minister Len Taylor made the announcement as part of nearly 5 million dollars from the provincial budget for new equipment across the province.

5 Hills CEO Dan Florizone is very pleased to accept the cheque that will help improve the care local residents receive.

"This 190 thousand dollars from Saskatchewan Health provides a good boost and some additional resources to be able to take a look at our equipment needs and make decisions around what exactly gets funded."

Minister Taylor explained the upgrade will help the local health region to increase its capacity to provide diagnostic imaging and to achieve reasonable wait times.

The Health Minister will be in Moose Jaw Wednesday for a tour of the Hemodialysis Unit of the Union Hospital.
