Palliser MP Dave Batters Talk about Canada Employment Credit.

The reduction of the GST from seven to six percent went into effect across the country on Canada Day.

It was one of four tax initiatives contained in the Conservative budget.

Palliser MP Dave Batters says the Universal ChildCare Benefit of 12 hundred dollars per child under the age of six is also now in effect.

Also starting Saturday, the Canada Employment Credit.

"That a 1000 dollar annual tax credit for everyone who earns a pay cheque in this country which will help defer the cost of uniforms and home computers but again it's more money in the pockets of Canadians and people in Moose Jaw."

The one hundred-dollar transit pass credit also went into effect on Saturday.
