The five individuals that robbed a local restaurant on Sunday could be facing more than just theft charges.

Following stealing an undetermined amount of money from a Moose Jaw restaurant, the group fled in a vehicle and headed west on the TransCanada Highway.

According to a social media post by the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan Unit, they then were stopped on the highway between Moose Jaw and Caronport by the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol going 150 km/h in a 110 km/h speed zone.

As a result, $12,700 in various currencies was seized and all five people were arrested. It is unknown at this time what charges have been laid.

The traffic stop also involved the Moose Jaw Police Service (MJPS), the Moose Jaw RCMP, and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers.

It was also stated in the post, that some of the people arrested may be deported.

In Moose Jaw, the group is facing theft-related charges for the incident at the restaurant.

They are currently in MJPS custody and appeared in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on Tuesday morning.

It has been determined that the group is from Ontario.

The investigation is ongoing and Discover Moose Jaw will provide further details once they become available.
