If you a frequent traveler to Regina, the Saskatchewan Health Authority is raising concerns about the increased transmission of COVID-19 variants.

The SHA has confirmed 70 cases of COVID-19 variants in the Queen City including 64 of the United Kingdom variants and six South African variants. There are also 77 presumed variant cases in Regina.

Right now, the province is making the following recommendations for Regina that could affect visitors:

  • Those over the age of 50 should consider not increasing their household bubble to include two or three households up to 10 people.
  • Limit travel and shopping to essentials only.
  • Stay home with even the mildest symptoms and stay at home if you have been in contact with anyone with mild symptoms.
  • Get tested if you have symptoms or have been exposed to someone with symptoms.
  • Continue physical distancing, frequent handwashing and wearing a mask in public places.

Public Health is monitoring the situation for the next two or three days and additional measures could be put in place if the variant numbers do not decline.
