RCMP say they are investigating a letter which was sent to the Edmonton Sun and allegedly signed by the suspect in the shooting deaths of two Saskatchewan RCMP officers.

Sergeant Brian Jones says the letter, if it's real, suggests Curtis Alfred Dagenais was alive on Friday when it was sent from the post office in Shell Lake, about 30 kilometres from where the officers were shot.

However, Jopes concedes it's also possible someone else could have mailed the letter for Dagenais.

He says the RCMP's main goal is to locate the 41 year old Dagenais.

He faces two murder charges in the deaths of constables Robin Cameron and Marc Bourdages.  They bothdied on the weekend after being shot during a police pursuit July 7th.
