Police are no longer present in the Stoughton area following a heavy presence in the southeastern Saskatchewan community Wednesday morning.

They continue to investigate what appears to have been a police standoff, according to Discover Weyburn.

Officers at the scene would only say they were executing a search warrant, as investigators walked into and out of an older home, through a door that appeared to have been kicked in.

Meanwhile, approximately 15 kilometres to the west, a lone RCMP officer stood guard over a white half-ton truck which had slid into a rural ditch, its motor still running. Four large but friendly dogs were also present. The RCMP officer couldn't say to whom they belonged.

RCMP say the truck in the ditch is related to the incident they investigated in the town Wednesday morning

He did confirm, however, the truck in the ditch was related to the incident in Stoughton. He could not say if it had been involved in a chase.

There have been unconfirmed reports from area residents that two locations were targeted in the early morning raids, one in the town of Stoughton, and another at a farm to the north.
