It was sloppy but it was a win Friday night for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.  The Riders beat the B.C. Lions 28-24 in front of 30,062 fans.

The Green and White's defensive line were the stars of the game chasing Lions QB Buck Pierce all over the field and sacking him nine times.

Defensive End Stevie Baggs talks about the line's excellent play, "I mean just effort man, just continuing to rush the passer and do our job and do it effectively and that's what we pride ourselves on."

Baggs talks about how they were able to keep the pressure up all game, "We don't look at it as we have four starters, we have six starters on our defensive line and we all come in and contribute in a big manner and that's what we're looking to do every week."

Regina native Jason Clermont made one catch for nine yards in his first game for the Green and White.

Clermont has this to say about the win, "That's how you wanna start the season, 1 and 0.  It's just nice now to be tied for first in the West and we want to stay there."

Another standout for the Riders was receiver Weston Dressler who made seven catches for 154 yards.

The Riders will face the Toronto Argonauts next Saturday in Toronto.
